First Aid Courses

Apart from the legal requirements to have first aiders on site it helps empower employees while giving them confidence in how to deal with emergencies should they occur – either inside or outside of the workplace!

We offer both the option of running accredited courses via Highfield ABC, the STA or the RLSS or non-accredited courses to those who want them.

Most of our courses are ran at employees own work places which means you only pay for the numbers you need.

A brief introduction to our courses is available below, however, if you’d like any specific help identifying your requirements please get in touch.

With some of our Awarding Organisations we are able to reduce the contact time of qualifications by one third by using a blended learning option. This requires candidates to complete part of the qualification via distance learning in their own time using an e-learning environment. The huge benefit of this is the reduction in cost of the qualifications because the most expensive element (the staff members) time is being reduced.

Paediatric
First Aid

Course Details

If you work in a school or early years setting this course is a requirement of Oftsed under the ‘Safeguarding’ category.

There are now two versions of this course – a one day emergency course and the full two day version. It is generally considered good practice to have a combination of staff qualified with both onsite.

This course, in theory, does not include the treatment of any casualty over the age of eight and so it should be interlinked with other qualifications available. That is not to say, however, that somebody who has done the Paediatric course could not apply a bandage to an older casualty or advise if they would suffered a possible fracture, however, as this course does not cover adult CPR it is essential to use it in conjunction with other qualifications to ensure legal obligations are met.

Ofsted requirements require the availability of staff trained in the two day course on site at all times when children under eight are present.

Anaphylaxis

Course Details

The newest qualification on the market is anaphylaxis recognition and treatment.

This course is designed for professionals who are in contact with children and young people who have auto-injectors (Epi-Pen being the most common brand used) relating to allergies, or, employers who have an employee at risk of an allergic reaction and would like some guidance on how to assist should it be needed.

This recognised qualification aims to ensure people can safely recognise and diagnose anaphylaxis as well as treat it by issuing an auto-injector. It also includes an element of CPR in case the auto-injectors do not fully reverse the effects of the reaction.
