Upon successful completion this course allows you to deliver the relevant STA qualifications yourself to candidates. This means you could be teaching STA Award or Certificate or Baby and Pre-school. Upon successful completion of any probationary tasks you could also add on further STA qualifications to tutor if you also hold them youself such as Award / Certificate or Baby and Pre-school (depending upon which one you qualified in), Mermaid and Monofin or Disability. You will also be able to deliver and assess the STA Safety Award for Teachers course subject to holding an equivalent life saving qualification.

Course Dates

Assessment Information

This course is 100% tutor assessed over the whole course. The assessment is holistic to ensure people have the knowledge, skills and competencies to be a STA Tutor as well as posess the attributes which one expects Tutors and Assessors to hold.

Pre-requisites

You’ll need to make sure you’ve met the following requirements before you attend your course:

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent/higher)
  • A teaching qualification in the discipline you wish to Tutor which has been held for at least 2 years
    • STA Certificate, or equivalent (please note that STA Award or Swim England Level 1 is not accepted)
    • STA Baby and Pre-school
  • An in date Safeguarding certificate which expires after the last day of your course—if necessary this can be completed via STA Online
  • STA Membership which expires after the last day of your course
  • A witness statement demonstrating you have completed at least 200 hours of teaching within this discipline. This does not need to be anything extravagant just somebody who can testifythat you have taught 200+ hours and of a high standard.

Learners must have all pre-requisites in place before the start of the course. Qualification certificates cannot be issued if all pre-requisites are not met before the start of the course.

Your aquatic teaching qualification and witness statements must be supplied to book on to thecourse. It is possible to submit your Award in Education and Training at a later date, however, the certificate must be supplied at least 6 weeks before the commencement of the course. Without these you will not be able to attend and, if already booked, no refunds will be issued. Therefore if you are working towards this qualification please ensure you have enough time to complete it AND be certificated—it is not acceptable to just have a provisional pass slip.

To be able to access and engage in this course you may need the following if it is being delivered remotely in part:

  • A computer, laptop, tablet or phone for viewing and editing documents (Word or equivalent, PDF)
  • A computer, laptop, tablet or phone sharing and uploading documents
  • A computer, laptop, tablet or phone which can access Zoom or equivalent and has access to a microphone and camera – which must be enabled throughout any remote teaching
  • Pen, paper, notepad as needed.

Cancellations, Amendments and Refunds

Due to time limits around issuing pre-course reading material we have had to amend our refunds policy:

  • More than 7 weeks before course start date—100% refund minus fees for finance plans
  • Between 4 and 7 weeks—up to a 50% refund minus any fees for paying by GoCardless and subject to a minimum deduction of £100 to cover the cost of already issued resources.
  • Less than 4 weeks—no refund.

No course materials will be supplied until a purchase order has been received.

Monthly Pay

Flexible monthly payments are available via GoCardless for a set fee of £10 and £1 per payment.

As an example somebody who had a course total of £275 and wished to pay over 5 instalments would pay £58 per month. This is made up of the £275 fee, £10 admin charge and £5 monthly payment fees giving a total of £290.

The following additional terms and conditions apply to flexible payments

  • Failed payments will be subject to a £7.50 admin fee
  • Places will be reserved once payment plan is set up via GoCardless
  • A minimum of £75 must have been paid before course materials will be sent out
  • The full and final payment must be made before submission of your work for certification
  • Refunds will be processed in accordance with our Booking Documents and additional information below. Any refunds will be minus the £10 admin fee and £1 per transaction fee
  • Any chargebacks to direct debits result in removal from course and a £25 admin fee to re-join.
