Assessment Information
This qualification is tutor-assessed by the completion of two post-course case studies. These are quite short and should take no more than an hour. Both case studies must be completed and submitted within four weeks of the last day of the course.
The details and information in the case studies must align with the most current version of the STA Designated Safeguarding Officer resource manual.
Should the case studies not be submitted within four weeks, or not at an acceptable standard within a further two weeks (i.e. 6 weeks from completion of the course), the candidate will fail the qualification and must resit the case study/studies they’ve not submitted or not met the required standards on.
Resits must take place within 6 weeks of the fail and incur a minimum charge of £25.
Pre-requisites
You’ll need to make sure you’ve met the following requirements before you attend your course:
- Be at least 18 years of age at the point of assessment.
It is also strongly advised that learners hold the STA Safeguarding Children and Adults and Risk CPD or an acceptable equivalent before commencing this course.
Online E-Learning Pre-requisites
For some courses, we are able to reduce face-to-face contact time by making e-learning a pre-requisite. This may not be the case for every course, and you will be told on the booking page if it is; however, as a rule of thumb, if your course is one day in length, there will be pre-learning.
Learners must have all pre-requisites in place before the start of the course. Qualification certificates cannot be issued if all pre-requisites are not met before the start of the course. Refunds are not issued if these are not in place and you cannot attend the training.
Important Note: the e-learning modules do take time (up to about 6 hours) and MUST be completed before day 1 of the course. Therefore, please ensure you timetable these in time. Refunds will not be issued for those who fail to complete the e-learning in time.
